Default ISPs Now Monitoring for Copyright Infringement

http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/201...fflaws-beware/

Quote:
The nation’s major internet service providers on Monday said they are beginning to roll out an initiative to disrupt internet access for online copyright scofflaws.

The so-called “Copyright Alert System” is backed by the President Barack Obama administration and was pushed heavily by record labels and Hollywood studios.

The plan, more than four years in the making, includes participation by AT&T, Cablevision Systems, Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Verizon. Others could soon join.

Funny that an industry that was born out of piracy (movie) is now against it,they need to adapt to the internet for distribution or die oh but this is the world of the corporations, they want to continue to be left in the dust and still profit,if they lowered prices and added an internet distribution system they would thrive,I believe people would pay 5 bucks to download a movie and then not pirate it,comedians like Rogan prove it all the time,I know of bands who have given away an album on the nets and then had there next album sell good and not show up online for illegal download at all.

Not Dead

No, your internet company will filter the data to and from your computer. Track what sites you go to, etc. If they detect that you downloaded an mp3, movie, or app without buying it, they can shut you down. Then report you to the police.
