parents need to look out for shit like this no matter what the source - and I haven't trusted google for a long time - asking for a cell number to sign up a new email? shady... and a text scam waiting to happen

It's weird dude. I signed up two gmail accounts lately, one for the Bubbapedia, and wasn't asked for a phone number. But yeah, parents need to keep their eyes on their kids, an hell yes Google is shady as fuck and we've known that a long time.

Trouble with that Spaz, is it's a much more difficult thing to do. Protecting your kids from these shady bastards should be top of mind. It works faster, and takes up way less of your time, freeing up more time to ride dirt bikes.

A wise person is street smart and that has to include the virtual streets of the interWEBS. I am naturally distrustful of people claiming to give me something for nothing - as long as they get my phone number, my ss number, my bank number......etc. Stuff like that rings bells for me. Come, you HAVE seen those Nigerian emails, right?

I get that ....steve i watch my kids like a hawk ...i don't sign them up for anything nor give out NO info on them . So i'm not gonna be a victim like that . Whether i use common sense and some other parents don't, IT STILL DOESN'T EXCUSE GOOGLE FOR STEALING IDENTITIES PERIOD !!!!

i agree with all the GREAT advice in your reply and i am as skeptical a person there is .
Though when i posted the google info it wasn't to put the "smarts" of the people
on trial,it was the fact that google was/is trying to steal identities and that is wrong plain and simple.
Or in effect smartening up the the people .

Absolutely. There is no excuse for what they(and many other crooked companies) are doing. I argued for well over an hour with a cell Phone rep about texts that cost $5. a piece for the dingbat, even though she never agreed to any of it. 1 hour later, she credited $150. back. It's all bullshit, and it's wrong.
