Yeah, but he uses music as a bed and talks over it like Bubba with 199, etc.

See this is a reason why the old "male oriented morning show, rock the rest of the day" format is having trouble and fading away some places. A lot of people want one or the other. Plus people have so many gadgets to play their own customized music on, they listen to the radio less and less for music. And people that want edgy talk and entertainment are going to satellite, the internet and podcasts, etc. And it's easier to program a station like a teen's iPod and it's cheaper than hiring good talk talent.

And I agree with Bubba, the music on Cowhead's show kills the momentum. But being a classic rock station, they can't have two four hour blocks of no music.

Ellis' show does this better than any. But because the music is very limited, and there's no commercials to further delay the time the show is not on.

I don't know. Cowheads numbers got better in the afternoon drive. I think he could go to no music and get even better. Like you say, most people don't use radio for music anymore. Maybe the weekends

The only couple times I went to listen to his show, when someone here or sumthin said it was sumthin interesting, when I turned to it it was music. I thought I had the wrong channel and left!!

Personally I don't like music/talk mix format. Cept like back in the day with late night rock shows with a lot of talk about rock!! Interviews, live shit, etc. Member those?

I agree. I listened to Cowhead online during Bubba's vacations a few times. He's definitely got the Bubba influence but with a style unique to him.

If Bubba had his own channel/network, he'd be a shoo in for a slot.

'Bubbapalooza' to sponge up the laughs for City of Champions

The Pittsburgh region will reap yet one more reward for the Steelers' winning the Super Bowl earlier this year.

The victory over the Arizona Cardinals earned us a concert from trash-talking shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge. "Bubbapalooza" lays siege Saturday to the Palace Theatre in Greensburg.

"This is unlike anything we've ever done," Bubba says. "This is a free show, because I vowed to my listeners that whatever team won the Super Bowl gets a free Bubbapalooza." The brawny Bubba rankled censors for years on terrestrial radio before Clear Channel Communications fired him in 2004 after Congress put pressure on radio to clean up its act.

His radio show is a scrum of locker-room put-downs, celebrity interviews and adult humor
Get out your umbrella, it's a cliche storm!

Do these people even do any research anymore? The show now hardly qualifies as the "LOL SO DIRTY AND EDGY1!1!!" But they're busy, they can't possibly be bothered to listen and form an accurate description of the show.

Bonus points for the obligatory hog trial mention.

Bubba's own legal problems included animal cruelty charges when he slaughtered a wild boar on the air during the airing of a segment titled "Roadkill Barbecue." He was acquitted after pointing out that the animal was legally trapped
