so did I... and I did not enjoy the political bullshit at all. The commercial load also sucked cock and killed any momentum in the show

Though I find myself sometimes embarrassed to try and introduce people to Bubba, especially the last couple of years, I'd love to be able to introduce people to the SBS on a local FM station. If nothing else it may be easier to convince people to tune in to the stream of a real FM station to listen as compared to a purely Internet radio stream...
I don't see why. A stream is a stream. I think it's easier than ever to get people to listen to something online. But I get your point about work.

This is what concerns me, if he does a heavily political show it'll turn some people off. He did a conservative AM talk show, I get it. But Shannon himself knows and has said on air that the people listening now don't like heavy political content on the show.

Shannon's politics and outlook on things being different from my own doesn't make me like the show or him as a person less, but I don't want to hear conservative talk from Limbaugh or Hannity and I don't tune into Shannon for that kind of thing.

I listened to the 810 AM show. I found the obsession over the Casey Anthony case intolerable in long stretches of time, but being a local show in Orlando it was his duty to do that. I'm sure Shannon will find the right voice for the St. Louis program. I'd just want him to be wary of putting off potential new listeners with heavy politics.

I guess maybe its because the FM broadcast implies a little bit more percieved credibility. Now everybody and their brother has a podcast, youstream broadcast, YouTube channel, or lately their own goddamn Internet "station" lol. And most people have no idea what RadioIO even is, and a quick trip over to the website only gives a prospective listener a relatively shitty experience circa say 2005. Glitchy Ad banners, hokey pictures, a terrible layout, and cumbersome archives. No working mobile IO streaming app (I know there are BTLS streaming apps tho) and a lame official BTLS App.

The work thing is big for me too. I could get people hooked that way, but I don't feel comfortable streaming the IO show over the shop due to a few uptight rubes.

I hear what you're saying. Looking at radioIO's site layout, cumbersome download pages, and listening to their glitchy Bubba One/Two streams, you'd never get the idea they've been doing this over a decade. And yeah, the Shitler is hardly water cooler conversation at work. Wallace ("Simply") from Bubba's show tried to give some advice, being a podcaster himself, on how to fix the broken Wordpress template the site runs on among other things and was told he didn't know what he was talking about. Seems like IO's problem is their inability to find/accept help from those that have experience in such things and are content with just being a bush league operation that hemorrhages money. We heard rumors of Randy Michaels and Marc Chase getting involved but that seemed to go nowhere. Besides Michaels getting some close to worthless stock, that is.

I was once one of the biggest cheerleaders for what IO had the potential to do. I haven't seen anything besides hiring Shannon, who they'll have a hard time keeping around once the sub money starts running out, to make me believe they're taking advantage of that potential.

Agreed across the board Chob...

So now with the whole Shando on Bubba deal going down starting Monday now that Brent is gone, does that mean the whole FM stuff in St Louis was a sham? I'm just confused now...

I have no idea what to make of the St. Louis thing now.

Yea I get the whole Brent deal, not really surprised at another good employee of the BRN leaving (it's a regular thing now). I guess I'm wondering where the work is here...

A) Did the FM deal(s) simply fall thru?

Or

B) Is this "one week tryout" just a work, some sort of stunt? Maybe it's a publicity thing that would help Shando get some FM exposure before the FM gigs start in May AND a way for Bubba to temporarily fill the hole left in studio by the deoarted Ballard until he can figure out a more permanent solution...

Just speculation of course...
