The thing is, moving Ellis anywhere is stupid and bad for fans. If he ends up on a premium channel, either Virus or for argument's sake 101 (and Bubba would be moved), a segment of the audience loses him unless they pay up. Also, moving him off Faction would mean more commercials and no music.

Yup. That's why I don't get why fans of him that are also Stern/202 fans want him on those channels. Nothing good comes of it. Hell imagine if Bubba had been on a music channel where there were no commercials and he played the music. Would any of us wanted him on a talk channel with the amount of commercials he had on Sirius up to this year?

Ellis has a great opportunity here with a good buzz about his show and the channel he's on. He's the reason a lot of people listen to Faction and a major part of that brand.

It really is a leap of faith but ends up working quite well. I don't know about the Storm, but the iPhone keyboard does a great job of predicting what you're typing. But yeah, some people found it hard to wrap their heads around a virtual keyboard.

stumpy

Pocket tunes has some presets but the way to get stations is to navigate to them using its browser. There's something built in to the app that allows/translates the stream. Not sure what it is, but if you try the same thing with Safari, you won't get it.. unless the new iPhone software changed something.

Use pocket tunes to navigate to theboneonline.com you'll get a mobile site. Click, listen now and the stream will launch.

On the Ellis thing? Artie brought him up and realistically it doesn't matter if Howard brings up Bubba. Him being on Howard's channels is merely a formality anyway, there's no feeling of connection between the shows anymore.

I'd much rather have Bubba live and a headline personality on another channel. With the Friday 101 show intact. Kind of like Jay, mostly on one channel (actually if it worked out my way, they'd both be on 108), but on 101 on Fridays.

Why? No one is "replacing" Howard. Why not give the guy some support.

Let's face it, Sirius XM doesn't care enough about Bubba to have made a timeslot change to accommodate him doing an exclusive show for them. Nor do they care enough to air the FM show live. Bubba is not taking Howard's place as a headline guy. That has everything to do with how the company views him and his show. Nor is anyone poised as a replacement.

I enjoy the show, but am not at all optimistic about it's future on Sirius. Sorry to be the pessimist raining on everyone's parade. It's a tape delayed FM show to shut some fans up and cheaply fill four hours. That's how they see the show, not as a headline show who's audience is highly valued by the company.

milkman
06-24-2009, 02:19 PM
I don't know Chob!! I think they realized after the fact how they, (they being Sirius upper echelon), fucked up by not signing Bubba exclusively. They wouldn't have his replay on for any other reason IMO.

What other testcile show do they replay everyday for 4 hrs? They realized the effect of the Bubba Army too late IMO!!

But we will see I guess.

Just thought it was shitty of Howard not to mention Bubba is all.

They play plenty of FM/AM content on Sirius.

And Bubba is an afterthought to Howard except the occasional reminder to the audience to listen. He doesn't even listen. I think Artie is the only one that legitimately listens. And even tries to call in.

And Scott Greenstein is a disingenuous talking head that doesn't value the show any more than he used to. No one at that company seems to learn from their mistakes.

We can thank glorified intern, errhhh, segment producer Will for that one.
Of course Goodstein whose better suited for softcore porn production is egging it on as well.

At least Show in the Hallway, other original programming, and old E! shows redeem the Howard TV service.

Hope ur not right, but very well could be. IMO Bubba is the only one that can carry Sirius if and when Howard bails.
They are royally fucked if they're depending one or several personalities to "carry" the company. A lot of Stern fans are already fed up with the service and losing them if Howard goes would be a crippling blow to the company.

Bubba does a great show and has a solid fan base, but doesn't have nearly as much name recognition as many others on the service, and Sirius shot themselves in the foot not promoting the show like they should have. He's definitely not popular enough to carry the company, but there was a lot of wasted potential by Sirius XM. Keep in mind he was flying around the country doing live weekend shows for the UFC and getting the name out there. They fucked up with one of their must enthusiastic personalities who had a hardcore fan base who would've done anything to be a team player.

They're stuck in a hard spot since they can't pay him enough to keep him around, and it's obvious Howard wants to leave.

Chob

I love his rant about Rosie... Sirius may have just topped the auto industry for stupid decisions/management. Royalty fees, price increases, no howard on iPhone, adding content without asking the reason most people even subscribe to Sirius... yikes.
Sirius XM lately has given nothing to the subs and continues to take. At a time where they need to convince everyone to stick with them through all the new technologies coming out. I have probably the lowest confidence in them I've ever had.

Chob
06-25-2009, 11:30 AM
Let me get this straight. Howard, who whines about doing any promotion whatsoever and won't work any harder to promote Sirius XM is mad because they didn't call him to help promote Rosie's new show? Am I missing something?

Chob

Listening now. Rosie is doing a daily show that wouldn't fit on his channels. This is ridiculous.

I can't believe Howard is bitching about feeling he's not important to Sirius. They treat him better than any company he's ever worked for. This anti management shtick has gotten old, especially in this stage of his career. I swear, if he didn't put on such a good show his attitude would've gotten me to stop listening.

SJ
06-25-2009, 03:05 PM
I think Howard is just programmed to bitch about management from the old days - The fans fed off that shit forever and maybe it's hard to completely drop out of your routine..

- Though I agree, the stuff is getting old and obviously just a work.. My guess is that Howard has another upcoming interview with Rosie and wanted to do the promo to get in some brownie points so he can be a little stiffer in the interview...

He says he blew a 0.0 on/in the breathylizer. He also said that he was piss tested. Car's fine, he's fine. He had been going to the pharmacy to get his Mom a prescription cuz she's sick. He was arrested and the police delivered the antibiotic to his Mom and said "ma'am here's your prescription and your son's been arrested on suspicion of DUI". LOL. Artie is also on an anti-depressant. Huh.

Okay, I'll shup now. Ha.

the problem is that Artie's reputation is going to follow him around for many years - no matter how long he stays 'on the waggon'

and he even said he had not shaved all vacation. I've seen Artie in person. he is perfectly capable of walking around with 'bed hair', a stained shirt, a messy look. that doesn't mean he's a homeless bum, he just looks like it.

they probably figured it was best to check him out rather than risk letting a person go who looks questionable
